The physical comedian's childishness emerges first of all in his difficulties with objects - constant battles with objects - simple, domestic objects (e.g. soap keeps flying out of hand).
In these battles he is bound to be inept, for funny - he must constantly make mistakes, and constantly be susceptible to accidents.
Although clumsy and inept, he is very tenacious - he keeps on doing things long after the point where the normal person would have given up (e.g. after breaking a coffee cup, he puts the coffee powder, milk and sugar in his mouth, drinks in water, gurgles and swallows the mixture).
Uncivilized = amusement; does not understand social conventions, or incapable of following them. Disregards conventions, morality, legality - no consideration for others.
